How should we treat our nanny?

I am a nanny and I can tell you there is nothing worse then getting treated like a "servant" Parents dont usually do it but grandparents and aunts and uncles treat you just like a piece of furniture as well as other mothers when they find out you are "only the nanny" . Treat her like your friend. She spends alot of time with your kids and they will bond with her and love her. Treat her like you would treat any of your friends. Invite her to family functions like birthday parties and bbq's. She doesnt need to go on all family outings but she will appreciate being invited to non work functions. The family I worked for for 5 years were like my family. They came to my family functions and were very close to my nephews and nieces. I would bring them to my moms house once a week to play with them. Make sure you trust her! I was with my family for 2 years as their pre school teacher before I became their nanny so they knew me and totally trusted me.
