What is the name of the scary movie about a giant man/bird?

This creature comes to earth every so often to feed and he grabs up people with his giant claws and eats them. In this movie he preys on a bus full of high school or college kids or something. At the end of the movie a old man with a supped up van, who knows about the creature, kills it. Please help me.
